When I decided on the instrumentation for this piece (piano, trumpet, french horn and steel drum), it reminded me of bumper cars. Whenever we saw bumper cars on family vacations, we would interrupt the trip to partake. By the time I was 13, I was so good at knockin' people around that the attendant at Expo '67 in Montreal came over to me and said, "Kid, I'm gonna let you ride one more time for free, then I want you to get out of here."
The sample is polyrhythmic and recreates the chaos and confusion of a bumper cars ride.
