Program 18 - Guitarist Peter Fields

Guitarist and composer Peter Fields draws inspiration from many musical styles, including classical guitar, jazz, and world music. His work has appeared in recording projects for Polygram and independent record labels, as well as on television programs for Fox, National Geographic, and the Discovery Channel. He was a finalist in the American Fingerstyle Guitar Festival and National Guitar Championships. One of his compositions won first prize in a mid-Atlantic region contest. He has performed for the Washington Chamber Symphony recital series. His Solo Guitar Music was selected as best acoustic album of the year by Northern Virginia Rhythm. Eleven songs from his Stillness of the Heart album were chosen for the nationally-released Guitar Escapes compilation.

"Rhumba Luna was inspired by my lifelong love of the Chesapeake Bay and all of its wonderful and endless beauty and mystery. Specifically it suggests the dance of moonlight on the gentle waves of the Bay on a warm summer’s evening. It also refers to the phosphorescent organisms that live in the bay and emit a greenish/silver trail of light when your body moves through them swimming in the moonlight" - Peter
