 Standouts

Here's the best from AIM's recent musical wanderings -

bullet

Italian tenor Enrico Caruso, whose prime was roughly 1902-1920. You gotta get past the limitations of early recordings, but, wow, what a voice - magnificent! Samples at http://www.archive.org/details/Caruso_part1

bullet

Lunasa otherworld - straightforward Irish reels, well-executed. If you liked the Bothy Band, you'll like this.

Brian Wilbur Grundstrom (Composer Roundtable No. 5) has composed music for a silent movie, Fugue Series, which will be showing as part of the FringeNYC festival in New York City in August. The music is a very effective rendering of a day of people-watching at an art gallery. More info and a sample clip of the music at - http://www.brianwilbur.com/

A few months ago, I went to see D.C.- area composer Gregg Martin's new opera Life in Death (based on an Edgar Allan Poe short story) and enjoyed the music very much. The video replay is available at -
